Middle Park Land Trust Holds Second Annual Open House Celebration. On June 24th, 2007, Devil's Thumb Ranch hosted Middle Park Land Trust's second annual "Community Connections" celebration at their Broad Axe barn. It was a great afternoon filled with music, food, and fun! The Annual Meeting started the event, with a summary of the Land Trust's activities and accomplishments in 2006. Following the meeting, musician Eden Brent "sang the blues", and the barbeque buffet was set out. After Dinner, guest speaker Will Shaffroth with the Colorado Conservation Trust gave an update on land conservation in Colorado. Grand Huts, Trout Unlimited, Grand County Historical Association, Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the Wilderness Society all had booths at the event, and representatives were available to share their insights on local issues. The Land Trust also held a silent auction with twelve items up for bid, including golf, fishing, dinner and hot air balloon ride packages, YMCA and Blues Festival passes, framed artwork, and gift baskets. All auction items sold, with the proceeds benefiting Middle Park Land Trust's continuing efforts to preserve the natural legacy of Grand County. Thank you to everyone who participated in this great event, and to those who donated auction items, time and efforts to help make it such a success! |

1st Annual "Community Connections" Openhouse
Celebration
Middle Park Land Trust Celebrates Community Connections! Middle Park Land Trust hosted a family event at Devil’s Thumb Ranch and Resort June 11th, 2006. The event included the Middle Park Land Trust’s Annual Meeting, followed by a variety of activities. Over 100 people attended, and all had a wonderful time thanks to many organizers and volunteers.Devil’s Thumb chefs prepared and served a delicious barbecue in the new Broad Axe Barn while Roger & Joan Shaw and Becky Shaw (no relation) of Alpine Classic Music, entertained everyone with their wonderful tunes. They were joined for a short while by Ryan Drickey, a talented young man who was also there enjoying the event. Completing the festivities was Barry Wright, our local live square dance caller, who had the majority of people "swinging their partners" around the dance floor of the Broad Axe Barn. Representatives from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Friends of the Fraser River, the Grand County Wilderness Group, the Colorado Riparian Association, Grand Huts, Trout Unlimited and NSCD were on hand, enjoying the festivities and chatting about their respective organizations to round out the Community Connections aspect of the event. All in all, it was a wonderful Sunday afternoon. Thanks to everyone who participated, those who donated their time and talents, as well as all the supporters and members of the Middle Park Land Trust who work year round to make our organization a success! |
